I took a look at this repo https://salsa.debian.org/raspi-team/image-specs
again from the original image spec and there have been some updates since I forked it.

Since we have the image building working now, I'd say there's no reason to immediately fix something that's not broken,

but creating an issue here to remember that we should look into these changes and probably pull them in (after testing them)
