I often come across these nice colorful buttons Deploy with... on various F/OSS git repos. Often these are the big major cloud hosting companies:

Some apps which there are Co-op Cloud Recipes for such as Listmonk for example have multiple smaller ones:

Most of these direct the user to a hosted managed service that requires a login to experience the UX flow:

While Co-Op Cloud does not run managed infrastructure, my understanding is the former setup was servers.coop did. Unfortunately that is non-operational atm, but there is desire to re-bootstrap it again.

I think making such a button and adding it to various well maintained Recipes (above a certain threshold, for example) would help achieve the following:

  • Bring awareness and use of Co-op Cloud (which is useful on it's own right)
  • Lay a groundwork for a Servers Co-op relaunch.

While Co-Op Cloud does not run managed infrastructure, my understanding is the former setup was servers.coop did. Unfortunately that is non-operational atm, but there is desire to re-bootstrap it again.

servers.coop was only aiming at the VPS level; there would have needed to be an additional layer of automation to provision a server for a coopcloud app – and some thinking needed about how to handle the usual recommended coop cloud case of deploying multiple apps per VPS.

all of this is subject to change / following through with a servers.coop reboot of course.

@mayel, any thoughts on this from Bonfire "spin up an instance" onboarding tool perspective?
