On the organization page an allowance, its unit and the control that extends it do not read as one thing #91

The question

The pools card on the organization page shows a pool (the record of what the organization is allowed) with its name at one end and the control that extends it at the other, and the number between them does not say what it counts. A reader has to assemble the three. The stopgap is a help icon on the card's header carrying one sentence, which is a finding against the card rather than a fix: a control that needs a sentence to be understood is the thing to change. How should one allowance be laid out so that its name, its number with its unit, and what can be done to it read as one row?

What depends on the answer

The same shape is needed wherever an allowance and its numbers appear together: the organization page, the member's own view, and the operator's list of wiki sites.

Options known so far

  • One row per allowance: name, current against limit with the unit spelled out, and the action at the end of the same row.
  • Keep the card and move the action next to the value it changes, dropping the header's help icon.

Decided when

The design system names the part that renders an allowance with its unit and its action, the organization page uses it, and no help icon is needed to explain what the number counts.
