the channels server needs to be accessible from the external network:

Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://channels.xxx/socket.io/?channel_token=d6f2d569-d2d5-4063-a22c-xxxx&EIO=4&transport=polling&t=PPDWPAE. (Reason: CORS request did not succeed). Status code: (null).
