I deployed the basic auth with the guide in the README but it does not ask for basic auth on my deployed apps or is it admin only?

I am a bit confused what the basic auth should do at the moment, when it is clear to me I can try.
We used the official solution https://doc.traefik.io/traefik/reference/routing-configuration/http/middlewares/basicauth/ in the bonfire recipe
coop-cloud/bonfire#16
