WIP but I've got the mental model tuned up on what exactly is going on when versions are being loaded from different "sources". This turned into a huge refactor again 🙈 Docs to follow but this is going in a good direction! Turned into a bit of a mix of refactor/fix (woops, sorry) but as long as the tests pass, we should be good. The huge diff is mostly caused by removing a final reference to urfave/cli and having to run a go mod vendor
