Thanks for writing this up @fauno !

I feel that a moratorium on LLM contributions is appropriate to vote on right now, but I don't feel that a moratorium on discussions about LLMs outside the decision-making process is appropriate. It feels too heavy-handed to me. I'm very open to hear your thoughts though if you disagree

@maren oh there you are! it didn't come up on the reviewer's autocomplete.

i'm proposing a moratorium on discussions also since the process is already starting and you mentioned it was much more work than expected to be on top of every thread about it. it's more of a "please let's move this conversation here" where here is a thread on loomio?

call me out if I'm being nit-picky but we don't even have an agreed upon definition for llm assisted

some people consider it to mean any use of llm and some people consider it to mean llm generated code only and exclude the usage of llm to "search"

search in quotes because it's not technically accurate term not because I disagree lol (I'm keeping my personal takes to myself given the role I play in moderating the discussion here)

My opinion would be that we tweak this a little so moratorium would have a smaller scope (moratorium on merging llm generated code, requirement to label PRs and such stay)

as of moratorium of discussion, I'm in favor of it but if it will invite negative reaction I'm okay leaving it off of the resolution

@ammaratef45 i do not think you're being nitpicky at all, i think these are valid points.

is there currently a requirement to label LLM-assisted contributions? if so that's news to me

for the moratorium on discussions -- i think it will both invite negative reactions and is an overstep. maybe compare to using threads for discussion in matrix -- we did not pass a rule that says this is mandatory, it's just culturally understood and enforced. however if someone is feeling like what they need to say is extremely important, they are not violating a policy by posting in the main matrix chat.

I think the LLM discussions should be like this, like "hey we really are trying to keep discussion in these places. however if you absolutely need to speak your piece right here in matrix, we're not going to vote you off the island for it (though no one may engage with you because it is annoying behavior)"
