+## problem
+New members of the Federation have many questions about decision making processes, Federation history, and active efforts. There is a historical norm that when an existing member vouches for a new member they also help the new member find information, but this is not always clear to the new member.
+
+## resolution
+This resolution proposes that we commit to a formal "onboarding buddy" role. After a new member has joined the Federation, the existing member who vouched for that member agrees to:
+- within 2 weeks of acceptance:
+  - assist the new member in joining relevant internal communication channels (at least Federation and Voting Delegates channel)
+  - assist the new member in adding their project to /federation/membership
+- within 1 month of acceptance:
+  - schedule an orientation call to answer any questions the new member has
+  - direct the member to /federation/finance to assist in paying their dues
+- within 3 months of acceptance:
+  - schedule 2 additional orientation calls
+  - be available for answering asynchronous questions within 1 week
+
+After this 3 month period, the "onboarding buddy" role will be considered fulfilled.

+This resolution further proposes that 3 volunteers (2 recently joined members, 1 legacy member) shall be found to collect resources for a new member onboarding resource consisting of at least:
+- communication channels for active Federation efforts
+- links to previous meeting notes
+
+Estimated amount of work:
+- each new member will create an expected 15 hours of work over three months for the vouching member
+- the new member onboarding resource will create 10 hours of work for 3 volunteers
